Final Survey - Artifact 11
Survey #2 was completed five school days subsequent to the unit 7 exam. This survey was completed during class in the last week of my student teaching placement. It was used to engage students to reflect on their performance on the unit 7 summative assessments in relation to objectives as well as their use of objectives through this class, in the past, present, and in their future. The data images of Artifact 11 present students answers to each question from this survey.
Summary of this survey:
Question #1: Students’ opinions of unit 7 exam performance.
14 students thought they did ‘worse’
14 students thought they did ‘better’
8 students did ‘as expected’.
Question #2: Student answers to question 2, Image 2, indicate that they spent the vast majority of their time, nearly 700 minutes collectively, ‘reading notes’ to study for the unit 7 exam. However, in Table 1 of Artifact 8 shows that only students 6 students total selected ‘taking good notes’ as one of their top two beliefs of what makes someone successful in this class.

Interestingly these data suggest some inconsistency in what students believe promotes their success and how they actually study and prepare for assessments.
Question #3: The only item students felt negatively impacted their grade on the unit 7 exam was; ‘Textbook reading’ & “Textbook Practice Problems.’
Question #4: 65% of students described the use of objectives in some positive way to prepare for the unit 7 exam.
Question #5: 82% of students described they could have used objectives in some positive way to have been better prepared for the unit 7 exam.
Question #6: 86% of students described the relationship between classwork, homework, and the test to be ‘very similar’.
Question #7: The comparison of these data below suggest students views on the usefulness of homework have increased over the course of the past couple months. This could have been supported by the exploration of my inquiry. In my inquiry I using objectives intentionally and that allowed students to make personal connections to their success in the class.

Questions 8-10 (Document 2): Student answers to these questions suggest student development of the use of objectives to reflection upon and self-assess their learning over the course of this academic year.
